The RPRU 5/1 (the receive - only version of the RU-20 / PRC-515) is an ex-Yugoslav Peoples Army HF/SSB/CW radio manufactured by RIZ Zagreb factory (ex Yugoslavia) under licence from Rockwell Collins of Canada for combat use. The equipment operates in the 0.5 to 30 MHz band with 100Hz spacing. Selection is by decade push down switches that control a synthesizer. The RU-20 is suitable for use as a ground station, working from static ground- or sky-wave antennas.
Working into a dipole or end-fed antenna, sky-wave communications at ranges from 50km to 2000km. This range performance is due in part to the high-grade receiver and high efficiency built in antenna-tuning unit, which is integral with the transmitter/receiver unit. The radio is carried on the operator's back. It is powered by rechargeable 25.2V/1.8Ah NiCd batteries It can be powered by a standard 12V battery. The radio consists of three modules: Receiver / Exciter, Control Unit.
For remote control, the Control unit can be detached from the transceiver and be connected by a cable. Without changing the usual configuration it can be used as mobile or fixed station.
Different antennas, a mounting for mobile use and the car battery can be attached. RX: 500 KHZ - 29.999 MHz.
